Heron Villa
Heron is no hotel room. This large and well equipped villa was designed specifically to cater for special occasions and romantic weekends away.
The villa also serves as a purpose-built honeymoon suite for the many newly-weds we host each year. The villa includes a comfortable king bed, large walk-in suitable for gowns and tuxedos, along with a make-up table. The large open-plan villa includes a spacious lounge room and dining area.
The kitchenette includes a full-size fridge and we provide hot plates, microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee-machine, as well as complimentary supplies for a ‘cook-your-own’ breakfast – eggs, bacon, bread for toast, cereal, porridge, milk, juice, tea and cofffee. The bathroom is large with a double-bath and double shower.
The Heron villa has its own private wrap-around veranda, with outdoor setting for a coffee and breakfast in the sun, or evening drinks as the sun sets.
All of our villas have reverse-cycle air-conditioning, ceiling fans and wood-fired heaters (available for use between April and October each year).
Parking is free, and at the door. Wi-Fi is available and also free.

Heron villa is our bridal suite, and is designed for the whole day: space and natural light for hair, makeup and photos as you get ready, and a private, quiet retreat to return to when the last dance is done.
Friends and family can stay close too. Our four other villas (Cockatoo, Magpie, Rosella and Kestrel), and Clemenger’s Cottage, can be booked individually or together for your wedding party, all just 30 minutes from Canberra.

Wine & Dine in Gundaroo
In 1865, William Affleck opened a pub in Gundaroo.
Recognising a growing village on the Sydney road needed an inn, the Royal Hotel was built and became the town’s unofficial meeting place. It’s now National Trust listed, and home to the critically acclaimed restaurant, Grazing.
Grazing is often best described as refined country fare: menus that shift with the seasons, produce sourced from local growers and the restaurant’s own edible garden, with a wine list built from the surrounding Canberra district. In winter the open fires roar in the old dining rooms; in summer the garden and paddocks, with cattle grazing beyond the fence, do the work. The stone dining hall hosts some of the district’s most beautiful weddings.
Grazing is a two-minute walk from The Nest at Gundaroo, making it the ideal location to celebrate that special occasion.

Very comfy! The fireplace was a very nice touch. The villa was so clean & everything needed was there. Breakfast provisions were excellent. A place to highly recommend and very complimentary to Grazing, an outstanding restaurant. Thank you!
